Mats becomes the 16th Captain of All-time, 1st ever European and became the longest serving Non-North American to hold captaincy. Mats will go down as One of the greatest leafs ever. He came to the Leafs in 1996 in a trade for Wendel Clark, team captain and most popular player at the time. Mats went on to a solid career with Leafs scoring 70 pts or more every season except once. Mats has Maple Leaf records of 420 Goals and 987 Points. His 567 Assists are most ever by a leaf forward

Sundin became the first European trained player to be taken 1st Overall in the NHL Entry Draft in 1989 by the Quebec Nordiques

Mats was a clutch scorer in Overtime, he had 15 game winners shared with Jagr, Elias and Federov

Mats Sundin was named to the NHL 2nd Team All-Star in 2002 and 2004, He also played in the 1996-1997-1998-1999-2000-2001-2003 and 2004.

Sundin was a great player at the International also with Sweden, winning 3 Gold Medals in World Championship play (1991-1992 and 1998) and a 2006 Olympic Gold Medal in Turin,  in which he served team captain for his country.In 1992 was named World Championship Top Forward

Sundin was awarded the NHL Mark Messier Leadership Award in 2008

Doug Gilmour had a Leaf record 127 Points in 1993 with 32 goals and 95 assists. He also recorded a 111 Point season in 1994

Doug "Killer" Gilmour,  has his number raised to the rafters at the ACC on Jan. 31, 2009.

General Manager Cliff Fletcher pulled off the biggest trade in NHL History in 91-92 involving 10 players. Gilmour helped energize the leafs to two straight Conference Finals, and quickly become one of the most popular players to play for the leafs.

Doug Gilmour accepting th Frank J Selke Award as top defensive player in 1992-93. Along with his defensive play he had a 127 point season a record that still holds today. His 95 Assists are still a leaf record also.

Gilmour played in the 1992 and 1993 NHL All-Star Games. He was a member of the 1983 Calgary Flame Stanley Cup team, Doug scored 2 goals in game 6 including the Stanley Cup winning goal

Wendel Clark was one of the most popular Maple Leaf players and Captains ever. He could score and he was physical. Wendel was named NHL All-Rookie Team 1986

Wendel being selected #1 in the 1985 NHL Entry Draft, Wendel was a star defenseman in Junior with Saskatoon. Toronto converted him to a forward he scored a career high 46 goals in 1993. Prior to being drafted he won Gold at the World Junior Championship

Rob Ramage like Vaive started his pro career in the WHA as a "BABY BULL" with the Birmingham Bulls. He won the Stanley Cup twice in 1989 with Calgary and in 1983 Montreal Canadians. Rob appeared in 4 All-Star games with various teams.

Rick Vaive scoring #50 vs the Blues in 1982, he recorded 54.He become the 1st leaf in franchise history to score 50 or more goals. Vaive would score 50 twice more in 1983 (51) and 1984 (52). He scored an average of 37.5 goals a season as a Maple Leaf.

Rick Vaive started his Pro Career as a "BABY BULL" as a member of the WHA Birmingham Bulls. He then went to the Vancouver Canucks and was traded with Bill Derlago for Dave "Tiger" Williams and Jerry Butler. Vaive and Derlago were line-mates for most of there leaf career. 

After retiring Vaive went into coaching in the ECHL and AHL, he is now a host on Leafs TV.

Jimmy was a NHL 2nd Team All-Star in 1951 and 1952 , He appeared in 1948-1949-1950-1951-1952 and 1953 All-Star games. Thomson was a member of 1947-1948-1949 and 1951Stanley Cup Championship Teams.

Thomson was a big supporter of Ted Lindsey's battle to have the players union certified, He was the Secretary-Treasurer of the association ended up getting every player to sign except Ted Kennedy. Smythe ended up trading Thomson to Chicago and Detroit traded Lindsey also that same year.

Ted Kennedy was Captain for the 1945-1946-1947 and 1951, The were the First NHL Dynasty as they won the title 3 times in a row. Ted still holds the record for being the youngest player to score a Stanley Cup Game winning goal in 1947

 Ted Kennedy was originally a  Montreal Prospect, The Leafs traded for the 16 Year old Center.Franke Selke was intern GM for Conn Smythe as he was away doing WW2 duty. The trade cost Toronto Dman Frank Eddols. Ironically the next year Selke left to Manage the Canadians.

Ted was named 2nd Team All-Star in 1950-1951 and 1954

Bob Davidson

Bob was named Captain, when Syl Apps served in WW2.

Bob Davidson won the Stanley Cup 1942 and 1945. Bob later was named Chief Scout he helped rebuild the 1960's Leafs and was on 1962-63-64 and 1967 teams in that capacity.

Bob was nicknamed "Rugged Robert"
